Renewal of Municipal Business and/or Advertising License

Among the annual obligations of commercial, industrial, or service establishments, is the renewal of the corresponding municipal business license, as well as of advertisements, as applicable.

The annual renewal of the municipal business and/or advertising license is governed by the timeframes and requirements established by the competent municipal authority, which, as a general matter, customarily fall within the first two months of the calendar year.

It should be noted that no uniform standard regulations exist at national level; accordingly, the applicable timeframes, substantive requirements, and procedural formalities may vary depending on the municipality in which the property where the activities are carried out is located, pursuant to the applicable local laws, regulations, and administrative criteria. Therefore, a jurisdiction-specific review of the provisions currently in force is advisable.

To avoid any type of sanction, we recommend processing the renewal of the municipal business license and/or advertisement of your establishment on time.

Failing to secure the renewal of the licenses may trigger economic fines and administrative sanctions, such as the closure of the business or suspension of the advertisements.
