The general minimum wage, in the designated area named “Rest of the Country”, is now of $123.22 MXN per day and in the Northern Border Zone, was set to $185.56 mexican pesos per day.

The increase was integrated from the current “SMG” (corresponding to the amount of $102.68 MXN, plus $14.67 MXN, corresponding to the Independent Recovery Amount (MIR, by its acronym in Spanish) and the inflation adjustment factor of five percent.

The “MIR” was applied for the first time in 2017, and it consists in a mechanism to recover the purchasing power of wages. It is also an absolute amount in Mexican pesos, which will not be used as a reference to set current salaries such as contractual, federal, statewide or municipal.
