New model of Federal Labor Verifications

The Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare (STPS, by its acronym in Spanish) points out new strategies and lines of action to monitor compliance with regulations.

The STPS, through the General Directorate of Federal Labor Inspection, is seeking to include new surveillance actions with the use of technology, voluntary compliance programs and alternative mechanisms to traditional inspection.

The new Federal Labor Inspection model will be applicable during the 2022 fiscal year: the goal is to carry out a total of 40,000 inspections.

The Dignified Work Unit, through the General Directorate of Federal Labor Inspection, launched, based on Article 40 of the Organic Law of the Federal Public Administration and Articles 10, Section 13; 18, Section III and 22, Section VIII of the Internal Regulations of the STPS, the Federal Labor Inspection Program 2022, which was prepared in Mexico City.

Those responsible for its execution are the Dignified Work Unit, the General Directorate of Federal Labor Inspection, the General Directorate of Social Welfare, the Regional Coordination Directorates, and the Federal Labor Representation Offices, who will support and coordinate with the Administrative Units, in order to provide the resources linked to the actions foreseen in the program.

This program has 7 established strategies, with specific lines of action for carrying out labor inspections, with the purpose of favorably impacting the conditions of employees, the productivity of companies and the permanence of sources of employment.

With the implementation of the program, labor authorities will be able to monitor compliance with economic labor obligations, the legitimacy of collective bargaining agreements, gender equity and outsourcing among others.
