Hugo Cuesta Tamayo is a Principal and Commercial Officer at Cuesta Campos, where he leads the Firm’s commercial strategy and initiatives focused on client growth, long-term relationship development, and institutional positioning in Mexico and international markets.
Working closely with the Executive Committee and practice leaders, he drives key account development, cross-practice collaboration, new business generation, and the continuous improvement of the Firm’s commercial processes. His role combines legal experience, business judgment, and an international perspective to translate clients’ needs into coordinated, high-value legal solutions.
Before assuming his current role, Hugo developed his corporate and transactional practice at Cuesta Campos. His experience includes mergers and acquisitions, corporate reorganizations, commercial agreements, and tax aspects of transactions, as well as advising international companies on establishing, operating, and expanding their businesses in Mexico. He has also worked with private equity-backed companies and start-ups at different stages of growth and financing.
Before joining Cuesta Campos, Hugo spent three years at leading law firms in the Banking and Finance and Capital Markets practices. His MBA from the University of Oxford complements his legal training with a strong foundation in strategy, leadership, and business management.
